格罗方德合作代工，为美国军事工业批量提供芯片
据国外媒体报道，美国芯片代工厂商格罗方德（Globalfoundries）和 SkyWater Technology 当地时间周四表示，两家公司已达成协议，为美国军事工业生产半导体芯片并进行新技术的研发。

格罗方德总部位于加州，由阿联酋主权财富基金拥有。通过 2015 年在美国收购的一些工厂，格罗方德已经在向美国军事工业供应芯片。IBM 旗下芯片制造业务，就是由格罗方德收购。

Skywater 于 2017 年从美国 Cypress Semiconductor 公司剥离出来，总部位于明尼苏达州。去年，Skywater 从美国国防部获得了高达 1.70 亿美元资金，用于开发抗核辐射和抗太空旅行辐射的芯片。

根据周四宣布的协议，两家公司将调整他们的技术，以批量提供军用芯片。

SkyWater 首席技术官布拉德·弗格森 (Brad Ferguson) 说，这份协议显示出积极的行业合作精神，有利于恢复美国在半导体制造业的领导地位。

上周，美国国会两院都出台了法案，将给予美国半导体行业至少 228 亿美元补贴，其中大部分将用于推动建设芯片制造工厂。
Groffand co-worker shipping chips for U.S. military industry
Globalfoundries and SkyWater Technology, u.S. chip makers, said Thursday that they have reached an agreement to produce semiconductor chips for u.S. military production and develop new technologies, foreign media reported.

Headquartered in California, Groffend is owned by the UAE’s sovereign wealth fund. Through some of the plants acquired in the U.S. in 2015, Grofond is already supplying chips to the U.S. military industry. IBM’s chip manufacturing business was acquired by Groffon.

Skywater was spun off from Cypress Semiconductor in 2017 and is headquartered in Minnesota. Last year, Skywater received up to $170 million from the U.S. Department of Defense to develop chips that are resistant to radiation and space travel.

Under the agreement announced Thursday, the two companies will adjust their technology to supply military chips in bulk.

Brad Ferguson, SkyWater’s chief technology officer, said the agreement showed a positive spirit of industry cooperation that would help restore U.S. leadership in semiconductor manufacturing.

Last week, both houses of Congress introduced legislation that would subsidize the U.S. semiconductor industry at least $22.8 billion, much of it to drive the construction of chip manufacturing plants.
