大小通吃 MicroLED 或将主攻可穿戴和大尺寸

据中国台湾媒体报道,光电协进会产业分析师预测 Micro LED 会率先入局两大市场,即可穿戴式设备和超大尺寸面板。

外媒此前消息称,苹果将在 2023 年苹果手表和手机上使用 Micro LED 显示面板;而超大尺寸面板的代表则是三星,三星在 2020 CES 上展出了 292 寸 8K Micro LED 电视,在画面、峰值亮度、色彩以及解析度上都有着亮眼的表现。

分析师指出,Micro LED 是全新的显示技术,涉及的产业广泛,包括 LED、面板、精密机械、半导体制程、测试及维修,因此 Micro LED 进一步的技术突破需要众多产业的投入,至于要耗时多久,则要看产业的整合速度。

据悉,三安光电和华星光电已通过自身的优势共同建立了一个 Micro LED 显示器实验基地,目标是实现 Micro LED 的芯片制造与转移(从背板转移 LED 元件技术)从而形成 RGB 三色到检查、修复等一条龙制造技术。预计完成产品将会应用于 VR/AR 等穿戴设备的终端显示、高画质的移动设备终端显示、大尺寸电视与屏幕等。

此外,德国开发商 ALLOS 也已展示将 GaN-on-Si Micro LED 技术应用于 300mm 大型芯片上。

光电协进会认为,Micro LED 显示器由单一子像素的微米级 LED 阵列组成,与现有的 LCD 和 OLED 技术相比,具有功耗最低,同时又具有出色的像素密度、对比度与亮度。因此 Micro LED 技术可能会淘汰现有的显示技术。

光电协进会进一步指出 Micro LED 为消费型产品以及高端电视显示器提供了新的发展机会。除了相关技术突破外,最近产业链的动作也很频繁,这些都预示着 Micro LED 技术的可行性已被业界认可。

Analysts pointed out that micro LED is a new display technology, involving a wide range of industries, including LED, panel, precision machinery, semiconductor manufacturing, testing and maintenance. Therefore, further technological breakthroughs of micro led need input from many industries. As for how long it will take, it depends on the integration speed of the industry.
It is reported that Sanan optoelectronics and Huaxing optoelectronics have jointly established a micro LED display experiment base through their own advantages. The goal is to realize the chip manufacturing and transfer of micro LED (the technology of transferring LED elements from the backplane), so as to form a one-stop manufacturing technology from RGB tricolor to inspection and repair. It is expected that the finished products will be applied to terminal display of VR / AR and other wearable devices, terminal display of high-quality mobile devices, large-scale TV and screen, etc.
In addition, German developer allos has also demonstrated the application of Gan on Si micro LED technology to 300 mm large chips.
According to the optoelectronic Association, micro LED display consists of a single sub-pixel micro LED array. Compared with the existing LCD and OLED technologies, it has the lowest power consumption and excellent pixel density, contrast and brightness. Therefore, micro LED technology may eliminate the existing display technology.
Optoelectronic association further pointed out that micro LED provides new development opportunities for consumer products and high-end TV monitors. In addition to relevant technological breakthroughs, recent industrial chain actions are also frequent, which indicates that the feasibility of micro LED technology has been recognized by the industry.
